Go On the Plane - A Wild Western Skit, Passionist Style!
As we prepared for Mother Catherine Marie to leave for her new assignment in Lucca, Italy, we tried to think of a fitting way to express our love and prayers. Sr. Frances Marie came up with the idea of re-writing the classic song, "Home On the Range," and the younger nuns threw together some costumes for a performance of the resulting drama. An encore performance was requested, and today we share with you the lyrics and cast photo of our very serious, wild-west-meets-cloistered-nuns production, Go On the Plane. Hope you enjoy!
Go On the Plane
to the tune of "Home On the Range"
Mother Catherine Marie:
Oh give me a home
Tha-at’s not far from Rome
Where the dear nuns of Lu-ucca stay
Where seldom is heard
A plain English word
And there’s vino and pasta all day!
Refrain:
I’ll go, go on the plane
Where the dear nuns of Lu-ucca stay
Where seldom is heard
A plain English word
And there’s vino and pasta all day
Lucca:
Oh who will she be,
Mother Catherine Marie,
Our superior from the U S of A?
What if she arrives
With a burger and fries?
In the Spirit, we’ll know what to say!
Refrain:
Come, come on the plane
And with us in dear Lu-ucca stay
Where seldom is heard
A plain English word
And there’s vino and pasta all day
Mother Catherine Marie:
I feel very small
And the order’s so tall,
But my Jesus won’t lead me astray.
With Sr. Joan at my side
It’ll be a smooth ride
And St. Gemma Galgani will pray
Refrain:
We’ll go, go on the plane
Where the dear nuns of Lu-ucca stay
Where seldom is heard
A plain English word
And there’s vino and pasta all day
Whitesville (whole community sings this):
You won’t be alone
In your new Lucca home
We’ll be with you in prayer every day
And we know you have heard-
-It’s in God’s Holy Word-
He will guide you each step of the way!
Refrain:
So go, go on the plane
Where the dear nuns of Lu-ucca stay
Where seldom is heard
A plain English word
And there’s vino and pasta all day
