Mother of the Jubilee of Hope
July 9th: Memorial of Our Lady, Mother of Holy Hope
We are over halfway through the 2025 Jubilee Year, in which Catholics around the world are reflecting on our calling to be “Pilgrims of Hope.”
What the whole Church is celebrating this year, we as Passionists recall annually on this special feast, focusing in a particular way on the hope exemplified by the Blessed Virgin. Mary, as we pray in the Salve Regina, is “Our life, our sweetness, and our hope,” because she is the Mother of Jesus Christ - the Hope of the world. She also kept her faith and hope firm even when all seemed lost on Calvary, and it was her steadfast hope that held the infant Church together as they awaited the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Surely Our Lady is interceding in a special way for our present Jubilee … we might even call her “Mother of the Jubilee of Hope”!
The Western KY Catholic newspaper has been publishing a blog series with reflections from Catholics all around the Diocese on the theme of hope. Two of our own Sisters contributed to this project, and we thought today was the perfect time to share their thoughts with you. Click the buttons below to read more!
