For those with inquiring minds...

Hexapla:

a work of textual criticism by Origen; he lined up the Hebrew text of the Bible with five translations in circulation at the time, which faciliated comparison of the texts as he studied

From August 1-3, we were blessed by the presence of Fr. Austin Dominic Litke, OP (Province of St. Joseph) for a series of conferences on the Fathers of the Church, especially focusing on their interpretations of the Psalms.

Over the course of three days, Fr. Austin gave us an introduction to the way the Fathers approached the scriptures, then honed in on the unique methods of Origen and St. Augustine of Hippo.  Friday was particularly special, as we had the chance to explore two commentaries of St. Augustine on Psalms which speak prophetically of Our Lord's Passion.  We were so grateful for this precious opportunity for study, which not only broadened our knowledge but also enriched our praying of the Psalms in the Liturgy of the Hours.

Thank you, Fr. Austin!
