A "Miracle" of Grace: 60 Years in Vows!

On July 9th, 1962, a young woman from Sorgho, KY made her first profession of Passionist vows in the small chapel of St. Joseph’s Monastery on Benita Avenue. 60 years later, that same woman (still young in spirit!) marveled at the grace of God Who has sustained her fidelity for six decades!

Sr. Mary Elizabeth of the Holy Spirit, our beloved “most experienced” nun, always refers to this special milestone with a sense of humility and gratitude: “I can hardly believe it — sixty years! It seems like yesterday … It’s just a miracle!” Although her actual anniversary was in July, the celebrations had to be delayed due to our community’s COVID-19 outbreak. Finally, on August 20th, a group of family and friends was able to gather for a special anniversary Mass and reception in honor of our jubilarian. It was a joyful occasion to recall the mercies of the Lord and to reconnect with loved ones!

Aspirant Emma

The faithful dedication of Sr. Mary Elizabeth and our other veteran nuns has paved the way for the next generation of young women who are interested in exploring a Passionist vocation. Please pray in a special way for Emma and Kristin Marie, our two newest aspirants, as they seek to discern the Lord’s Will for their lives!
