Roof Progress!

It has been quite some time since we gave any updates on our roof replacement, hasn’t it? But fear not — in this case, no news is good news! Over the past two months, our Helmings crew has been hard at work, becoming more and more efficient with each section of roof completed. With the public areas all but finished, they have turned now to the monastery roof proper. Tile saws, drills, dump trucks, and heavy boots tramping overhead have become a familiar sound in the cloister these days! Meanwhile, Sisters and many generous volunteers continue to work hard at blending tiles. It’s amazing how many pallets go to just one section of roof!

As of this week, nearly all of the roofs have been stripped of old tiles and covered with waterproof underlayment, and half of the “work wing” (where we have our kitchen, offices, etc.) is shining with a new layer of Ludowici clay tiles. Part of the roof will remain un-tiled until we finish the next phase of our Cherish the Flame project — the covered cloister walkways. We hope it won’t be too long before those get started in earnest … especially since the blueprints were finalized last week!

Sisters and construction workers alike (not to mention Good St. Joseph) are thrilled to see those new blueprints!

Our fundraising efforts continue, with the generosity of the People of God touching and humbling us every day. Would YOU consider helping us improve our monastery for the next generation of Passionist Nuns? Click the button to find out!
